Dear Westside Community,
As Alberta begins to open, we too are making plans to relaunch in the fall. We have been praying and planning as guidelines have been changing rapidly. We want to step forward in faith while being considerate of one another’s well being.
This summer, we are planning some special events Weekly services will continue to be live streamed. If you are in a high-risk category, we request that you continue participating with our services online.
Here’s what you can expect for our in-person events:
July 19 – Training Service
We will invite leaders, volunteers, and staff members via email to attend this service for training on our new safety and health guidelines before opening to the public.
July 26 – Adult Service & Aug 9 – Family Service (for families with children up to 12 yrs)
Attendees will register online at mywestside.ca for one of these two services. Registering online will enable us to contact attendees in the unfortunate case that someone contracts COVID-19
We will have physical distance seating with directional arrows and ushers guiding people to seats. Please seat children under 3 on your lap.
We strongly encourage wearing a mask. Masks will be worn by staff members and volunteers with the exception of those on stage. We will have some masks available for those who don’t have one. We recommend visiting A&W, McDonalds or Tim Hortons to get the Alberta Government provided free masks. Children are not required to wear masks.
Singing is considered a high risk activity. While regulations have loosened slightly, we will be encouraging mask wearing, humming, clapping, and even flag-waving during worship.
The welcome team will assist attendees in following directional arrows and maintaining proper social distance. Government guidelines discourage visitation in the lobby before/after the service.
Doors will be propped open to avoid contact. We ask that you use the upstairs washrooms where an attendant will be available to sanitize regularly. The downstairs area will be closed during the service. Please use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the building.
Prior to attending these events, we encourage everyone to take the self-assessment screening available on the Alberta.ca website prior to attending. Do not attend if you or anyone in your household are experiencing any of the symptoms listed on the self-assessment, have travelled outside Canada in the last 14 days, or have come into contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
Aug 30 – Back-to-Church Outdoor Service
We invite everyone to register and attend this outdoor service at the Elk’s Compound. Please bring your own lawn chair and optional picnic lunch for your household. BBQ grills will not be available. More details will follow.
Thanks again for your patience, support, and grace as we begin to move forward together. I am so blessed to be your Pastor and am excited to meet with you again, while we do our very best to keep you and our Westside Community safe.
In this together,
Pastor Bert Faulkner
